Pengiran Mohammad Salleh ibnu Pengiran Sharifuddin (1790s–1858) or commonly referred to by his title Pengiran Indera Mahkota, was a Bruneian nobleman and politician who was governor of Sarawak in 1827. In the region that is now part of Sarawak, he founded the city of Kuching in 1827.[1]
In this Malay name, there is no surname or family name. The name Pengiran Sharifuddin is a patronymic, and the person should be referred to by their given name, Pengiran Mohammad Salleh. The word "bin" or "binti"/"binte" means 'son of' or 'daughter of', respectively.
