Mohan Charan Majhi was elected as Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister of Odisha on 11 June 2024.[1] The government was formed as a result of BJP securing 78 seats of 147 in 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election which was held in four phases during May and June in the state. The results were declared on 4 June and this led to formation of 17th Odisha Assembly.[2] This government is also supported by 3 independents.

On 12 June 2024, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi along with his two deputy CMs, 8 Cabinet Ministers, and 5 Minister of State with Independent Charges took oath in Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar. Governor Raghubar Das administered their oath. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Chief Ministers of 10 BJP ruled states were present.[3][4][5]
