List of pastoral visits of Pope John Paul II
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During his reign, Pope John Paul II ("The Pilgrim Pope") made 146 pastoral visits within Italy and 104 foreign trips, more than all previous popes combined. In total he logged more than 1,167,000 km (725,000 mi). During his 1990 visit to Rwanda, Pope John Paul II visited the towns of Kigali, Kabgayi, and Nyamata. While some of his trips (such as to the United States and Israel) were to places that were previously visited by Paul VI (the first pope to travel widely), many others were to countries that no pope had previously visited.
