DescriptionUrquhart Heritage House.JPG |
English: Built by local builder Robert Ford and designed by architect Otto Beeston Hatchard, this English Arts and Crafts Bungalow is a classic example of the four houses designed by Hatchard in Vernon and Coldstream. The home features fieldstone foundations and chimneys, shingle cladding, hall timbering and roughcast in the eaves as well as decorative verge posts and leaded glass windows. The interior has fire paneling, stone fireplace and an inglenook. At the rear of the large lot is a Carriage house, which was recently restored with the same features as the house. Noted past owners were Dr. Hugh Alexander a local surgeon and Dr. Rudy Fischer of Vernon's first X-ray clinic.
