Summary
DescriptionStratton House, nr East Stratton - geograph.org.uk - 354089.jpg |
English: Stratton House, nr East Stratton Stratton House was built in 1801 in the form shown here: http://www.winchestermuseumcollections.org.uk/index.asp?page=image&filename=photos.mdf&itemId=WINCM%3APWCM%202862
It was mainly of plastered brick but had an impressive Greek portico in stone with Doric pillars. The portico was listed but the rest of the building wasn't. In 1965, Lord Northbrook demolished the whole building except the portico, and built the modern house to be seen behind it. The house at left, originally the stables, is now called The Clock House. |
