Français : Caricature du commissaire Nicolas de La Mare. Gravure d'inspiration protestante, publiée dans l'ouvrage Les Héros de la Ligue ou la procession monacale conduitte par Louis XIV pour la conversion des protestans de son royaume, 1691. En raison de sa participation à la destruction du temple de Charenton après la révocation de l'édit de Nantes, Nicolas de La Mare est férocement caricaturé comme un moine ligueur encapuchonné et hilare, évocation du temps des Guerres de religion. La planche est ornée d'un sonnet moquant la corruption du commissaire. Il s'agit de l'unique représentation contemporaine de Nicolas de La Mare, aucun portrait n'étant connu par ailleurs. |
