English: Official Flag of the Province of Samar, Republic of the Philippines
The basic design of the flag of the Province of (Western) Samar is the provincial seal centered on a field of white fimbriated with a band of golden yellow. Only one variant is known: it has an aspect ratio of approximately 3:5, with the provincial seal being slightly more than 1/2 of the flag width. The band of golden yellow which forms the flag border measures approximately 1/18th of the flag width. --- Differences compared to the 1975 Symbols of the State flag rendering: = main flag color and presence of flag border/fimbriation = flag proportion = provincial seal details: - colour of encircling text is green instead of black; - colour of elements more “natural;” - the top portion of the shield being predominantly green, instead of being a golden hatched area resembling the pattern of a woven palm/grass mat (“banig”), a traditional product associated with Samar; - the date “1 1968 1” {1 January 1968 is the official date of inauguration of the three partitioned provinces of the old Samar province} being enclosed within a horizontal warrior shield-like shape outlined in black, instead of lying on a golden banig-patterned field |
