Summary
DescriptionFlag of Nicaragua (1908–1971).svg |
Deutsch: Die Flagge von Nicaragua.
English: The flag of Nicaragua.
Esperanto: La flago de Nikaragvo.
Español: La bandera de Nicaragua.
Slovenščina: Državna zastava Nikaragve
Svenska: Nicaraguas flagga.
English: The coat of arms of the República de Nicaragua consists of a triangle (representing equality) with a rainbow and five volcanoes representing the five countries of Central America. In the upper center, a red phrygian cap (ES: gorro frigio),a symbol of liberty (also used by the jacobins during the French Revolution), i.e., the independence of Central America from Spain. Surrounding the triangle, the words República de Nicaragua and América Central arranged in a circle; the first in the upper part, the second in the lower.
The blue color is officially defined as 'cobalt blue'; Pantone 300C used here is recommended by Album des Pavillons and [1]. The proportions for the flag are 3:5 and for the stripes 1:1:1. The height of the coat of arms is 9:10 compared to the height of the middle stripe.

Note the similarity to the early 19th century version of the flag: Zentralamerikanische Konföderation 1823-1824.svg. Thus the design is likely not eligible for copyright, as it does not meet the threshold of originality.
