Deutsch: Das Wappen des Landkreises Trier-Saarburg wurde am 31. März 1970 vom rheinland-pfälzischen Innenministerium verliehen. Das rote Kreuz steht für das Kurfürstentum Trier, die silber-blaue Schildteilung ist dem Wappen von Luxemburg, als einstiges Hohheitsgebiet der Grafen entnommen und die Burg symbolisiert die Saarburg, die aus dem Stadtwappen der gleichnamigen Stadt entnommen ist.
English: The arms were officially granted on march 31, 1970. The arms are mainly based on the arms of the former district Saarburg. The castle is slightly changed and an additional background is added with the barry shield of Luxembourg, as a large part of the district historically belonged to Luxembourg. The cross is derived from the arms of the Electorate of Trier. |
