Commodore Decatur’s Squadron capturing the Algerian pirate ship Mashuda, on 17 June 1815. Mashuda, flagship of the Algerian Navy, was taken in the Western Mediterranean after a battle in which the Algerian Admiral Hammida was killed. In this view, Mashuda is being baked astern by Decatur’s flagship, USS Guerriere, while USS Epervier fires into her bows. USS Constellation is coming up on the right.
