Nederlands: Olieverfschilderij. Olieverfschildering op linnen in lijst voorstellende Berthe Hoola van Nooten geboren Van Dolder (Wageningen 1817/Batavia 1892).
Op 11-7-1838 trouwt zij met Mr. Dirk Hoola van Nooten (Demerary West Indië 3-5-1811-New Orleans 13-9-1847). Waarschijnlijk is dit portret gemaakt vlak na hun huwelijk. Van haar echtgenoot is ook een portret gemaakt maar waar dit pendant zich bevindt is onbekend. Mogelijk is het bij verre familie in Australië. We zien de jonge Berthe afgebeeld ten halve lijve in een zwarte jurk met in haar hand een roos (symbool van de liefde). Op haar middel een ceintuursieraad. De achtergrond is of fantasie of is mogelijk een verwijzing naar het geboorteland van haar echtgenoot. Ook de klassieke vaas op piedestal met tropische cactus wijst ons mogelijk in die richting. De Selenicereus, afkomstig uit Zuid-Amerika wordt ook wel Koningin van de Nacht genoemd, de grote en exotische bloem, bloeit slechts 1 tropennacht lang. Na het overlijden van haar echtgenoot, als hoofd van een school in New Orleans , blijft zij in 1847 met 5 kinderen achter. Teneinde in hun levensonderhoud te voorzien, zet zij het onderwijs in New Orleans, Plaquemine en Galveston en in 1856 in Batavia voort. Later geeft zij ook tekenles en illustreert het botanische werk "Fruit, Fleurs et Feuillages, choissis de l'ile de Java" uitgegeven in Brussel in 1863, dat zij opdraagt aan Koningin Sophie.
