Summary
Description2024-uk-election-in-northern-ireland.svg |
English: A large map in the centre of the image shows the 18 Westminster constituencies of the Northern Ireland, shaded in accordance to the winning party's strength. To the left of the map is the legend, showing the names of the parties, the colors used for shading, the amount of seats won and their standing on the independence/non-independence of the Northern Ireland. Parties marked by a green shamrock support Irish republicanism, those marked by a red rose support British unionism, while the only one marked by a yellow flax flower (ANPI) is not supportive of either movement. The Independents are marked by a striped rose, showing that the only Independent candidate - Alex Easton - elected is a unionist (https://alexeastonmla.org/)
Two smaller maps are shown to the right: the top one is an inset on Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, showing its four constituencies, while the bottom one is a map of constituencies according to the winning party's allegiance: green for republicans, yellow for neutral ANPI and red for unionists. Each constituency has a small bar chart showing the results of the three strongest parties in that constituencies. The colors used for shading are consistent with a larger work of mine - File:2024-uk-election-by-region-and-nation-full.svg, with its legends slightly extended to include constituencies where the winner's vote share was more than just 20% of the vote. Below are the sources for flowers used to mark the parties:
