Ellenbrook station consists of a ground-level island platform with a bus interchange and car park. The contract for the construction of the Morley–Ellenbrook line was awarded to Laing O'Rourke in October 2020. Construction on Ellenbrook station started in January 2022 and was completed in March 2024, making it the first new station on the Morley–Ellenbrook line to begin and complete construction. The station is planned to open alongside the rest of the Morley–Ellenbrook line by the end of 2024.
There are planned to be five trains per hour stopping at Ellenbrook station during peak, reducing to four trains per hour outside peak. A journey to Perth station is expected to take 30 minutes. Feeder bus routes will serve the surrounding area.
