The rivalry has been ranked number one overall in the NFL in 1992 and 2014, characterized by bitterly contested games that are typical of the NFC East.[3][4][5] The Cowboys lead the overall series, but the Eagles gained the upper hand during the 1960s and 2000s before the Cowboys took back the slight upper hand in the 2010s.[6][7] The matchups have been the most frequently featured on NBC Sunday Night Football with a total of 16; the series is currently tied at 8–8. The teams have also met in the playoffs four times, with the home team winning every game; the Cowboys holding a 3–1 advantage.
