Akre or Aqrah (Kurdish: ئاکرێ, romanized: Akrê,[2][3] Arabic: عقرة,[4] Syriac: ܥܩܪ, romanized: Aqra')[5] is a disputed city located in Kurdistan Region of Iraq. it is part of the Duhok Governorate, Akre is known for its celebrations of Newroz.[6][7][8]
