Sopramonte liegt etwa 7 Kilometer westlich vom Stadtkern von Trient an den nördlichen Ausläufern des Monte Bondone.
Die Gemeinde verlor im Jahr 1926 ihre Selbstständigkeit und wurde verwaltungsrechtlich mit der Stadt Trient vereinigt.
