Das Flugzeug wurde vom Hersteller Hunting Aircraft aus der Percival Provost entwickelt. Nachfolgemodell wurde die BAC Strikemaster.
Die Jet Provost wurde auch vom Kunstflugteam Red Pelicans geflogen.
