Der jeweilige Earl of Eglinton ist auch erblicher Clan Chief des Clan Montgomery.
Familiensitz der Earls war bis 1925 Eglinton Castle bei Kilwinning in North Ayrshire und ist heute Balhomie House bei Cargill in Perthshire.
