První písemná zmínka o kapli sv. Jiljí (stávala někde v místě dnešního kostela) pochází z buly papeže Bonifáce VIII. z roku 1295.[2] Koncem 13. století kapli nahradil kostel, který byl roku 1421 vypálen husity[2] Jeho obnova probíhala v letech 1421–1512. Současný kostel sv. Jiljí vznikl na přelomu 15. a 16. století.[2] Opravy kostela v letech 1904–1905 vedl architekt Bóža Dvořák. Zatím poslední rekonstrukce kostela proběhla v letech 2007–2008.[3]
