Kęstutis (asi 1300 – 15. srpna 1382, Kriavas) byl velkokníže Litvy v letech 1342–1382, který byl postaven před úkol bránit západní hranice své země proti Řádu německých rytířů.

Kęstutis (polsky Kiejstut) byl jeden ze sedmi synů Gediminase, velkoknížete Litvy, jenž vládl v letech 1316–1341, a který udělal z Litvy významnou východoevropskou říši.
Kęstutis docílil toho, aby se jeho bratr Algirdas stal oficiálním spoluvládcem země (1345). Zatímco Algirdas poté rozšiřoval území Litvy na jih a východ, Kęstutis se soustředil na nebezpečí na západě, německé rytíře, kteří chtěli z Litvy dělat centrum své Baltské domény. Poté, co se neúspěšně pokusili v roce 1345 obsadit Žmuď (území odpovídající většině dnešní Litvy), úchýlili se rytíři k taktice neustálých nenadálých nájezdů. Kęstutis pochopil, že proti této taktice musí nasadit útočnou strategii a vedl několik výprav do pruských zemí (hlavní opory Řádu), a v roce 1370 způsobil Němcům těžké ztráty v bitvě u Rudavy.
Ve stejném roce se dočkal i dalšího triumfu, když završil svůj další spor, tentokrát s Polskem (trval od roku 1349), ukořistěním polské Haliče a Volyně.
Úspěšné období zhatily vnitřní, dynastické spory. Roku 1377 zemřel bratr a spoluvládce Algirdas. Na Algirdasovo místo nastoupil syn Jogaila (Jagellonský), což se však nelíbilo dvěma jeho bratrům, Andrewovi a Skirgailovi. Ani jeden z nich neváhal se v boji proti Jogailovi a Kęstutisovi spojit se zahraničními nepřáteli. Andrew uzavřel spojenectví s Livonskými rytíři (větví Řádu německých rytířů), zatímco Skirgaila se spojil přímo s Řádem. To zvrátilo poměry a Kestutis byl nucen podepsat s Řádem německých rytířů mírovou dohodu (1379).
Následující rok však Kęstutise zradil třetí z bratrů, ten kvůli němuž tolik obětoval – Jogaila. Uzavřel s Řádem tajnou dohodu, která měla zajistit Kęstutisovo sesazení a litevský trůn pro Jogaila. Kęstutis se o zradě synovce dozvěděl od některých rytířů, Jogaila zatkl a uvěznil. Od té doby (1381) byl jediným vládcem země. Ale zatímco Kęstutis roku 1382 potlačoval povstání na ruských územích, Jogaila unikl z vězení, sestavil armádu a ovládl hlavní litevská města Vilnius a Trakai. Když Kęstutis přitáhl k Trakai, byl zatčen a převezen do Kriavasu, kde byl zřejmě zabit.
O čtyři roky později (1386) se Jogaila stal králem Polska, jakožto Vladislav II. Jagello.[8]
