Prema Bibliji, Šit (na bosanskom i Šet; arapski jezik شيث, hebrejski jezik שֵׁת) bio je treći sin Adema i Have, prvih ljudi. U judaizmu, kršćanstvu i islamu on je predak svih živućih ljudi.[1]
U Knjizi postanka se navodi da je Adem dobio Šita kada je imao 130 godina.[2]
Vjeruje se da je Adem imao 33 sina i 23 kćerke.
U islamu, Šit je prvi poslanik ljudima nakon Adema, prvog čovjeka.
Njegovo ime znači "Božiji dar", a Adem i Hava su ga tako nazvali zato što su ga dobili nakon Habilove smrti (Šitov brat Kabil je ubio Habila).
U nekim tradicionalnim islamskim predajama se prenosi da je Šitu od Boga objavljeno 50 takozvanih "suhufa". Suhufi su naređenja od Boga, objava.
Zanimljivo je da se u Ibn-Kesirovom djelu Kazivanje o vjerovjesnicima spominje da svi ljudi koji danas postoje vode porijeklo od Šita, a da su potomci svih ostalih sinova Ademovih, izumrli.[3]
Nakon smrti Šita vodstvo je preuzeo njegov sin Enoš.
U Knjizi jubileja, Šit je opisan kao muž svoje sestre Azure.[4]
