জার্মান মার্কিনী (ইংরেজি: German Americans) বলতে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সেই সব অধিবাসীদের বোঝায় যারা ইউরোপের জার্মানভাষী লোকদের বংশধর। এরা সবাই যে সরাসরি জার্মানি থেকে এসেছে তা নয়। জার্মান বলতে এখানে জাতিগত-সংস্কৃতিগত একটি দলকে বোঝানো হয়েছে, যাদের প্রধান ভাষা জার্মান। এই জার্মানভাষীরা ইউরোপের অস্ট্রিয়া, সুইজারল্যান্ড, লুক্সেমবুর্গ, রাশিয়া, ফ্রান্স, ইতালি, ডেনমার্ক এবং পোল্যান্ড থেকে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে পাড়ি জমিয়েছিল। জার্মান মার্কিনীরা মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বৃহত্তম জাতিগত দল।
মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ২০০০ সালের আদমশুমারি অনুযায়ী সাড়ে চার কোটিরও বেশি মার্কিনী অর্থাৎ মোট জনসংখ্যার এক-ষষ্ঠাংশ জার্মান বংশোদ্ভূত। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে অভিবাসী প্রায় ৮০ লক্ষ জার্মানদের বংশধর এই দল। এদের বেশিরভাগই ১৯শ শতকে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে এসেছিল। বেশির ভাগ জার্মান মার্কিনী ২১টি অঙ্গরাজ্য নিয়ে গঠিত একটি "জার্মান বলয়"-এ বসবাস করে। এই অঙ্গরাজ্যগুলি হল পেনসিলভেনিয়া, ম্যারিল্যান্ড, পশ্চিম ভার্জিনিয়া, ওহাইও, মিশিগান, ইন্ডিয়ানা, উইসকন্সিন, ইলিনয়, মিসৌরি, আইওয়া, মিনেসোটা, নর্থ ডাকোটা, সাউথ ডাকোটা, নেব্রাস্কা, ক্যানসাস, কলোরাডো, ওয়াইওমিং, মন্টানা, ওরেগন এবং ওয়াশিংটন। এই সব অঙ্গরাজ্যের প্রতিটিতে জনসংখ্যার এক চতুর্থাংশেরও বেশি লোক জার্মান বংশোদ্ভূত।
১৮৪৮ সাল থেকে ১৯১৪ সালে প্রথম বিশ্বযুদ্ধ শুরুর আগ পর্যন্ত যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে ৬০ লক্ষ জার্মান অভিবাসী প্রবেশ করে। এরপর ১৯৩০-এর দশকে নাৎসি শাসনামলে আরও প্রায় এক লক্ষ জার্মান এখানে আসে (যাদের মধ্যে আলবার্ট আইনস্টাইন উল্লেখযোগ্য)। ২য় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের পর এখানে আর সেরকম বড় সংখ্যায় জার্মান অভিবাসী আসেননি। বরং জার্মানি নিজেই অন্যান্য দেশের অভিবাসী সম্প্রদায়ের একটি লক্ষ্য রাষ্ট্রে পরিণত হয়।
দেশের বৃহত্তম জাতিগত দল হিসেবে জার্মান মার্কিনীরা মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সংস্কৃতির উপর গভীর প্রভাব ফেলেছে। এই প্রভাবগুলি বর্তমানে মার্কিন দৈনন্দিন জীবনের অবিচ্ছেদ্য মৌলিক অংশে পরিণত হয়েছে। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে বড়দিন উদযাপনের রীতি সম্পূর্ণ জার্মান রীতিনীতির মতন। জার্মান মার্কিনীরাই ক্রিসমাস ট্রি এবং উপহার আদান প্রদানের রীতির প্রচলন করে। টোমাস নাস্ট নামের এক জার্মান মার্কিনী শিল্পী মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের স্যান্টা ক্লজের ঐতিহ্যবাহী প্রতিকৃতি সৃষ্টি করেন। জার্মান মার্কিনীরাই ইস্টার বানির প্রচলন করে। মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রথম দিককার জার্মান অভিবাসীরা খেতে, পান করতে ও গান গাইতে পছন্দ করত। জার্মানদের বিয়ার মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের জাতীয় পানীয়ে পরিণত হয়। আনহয়জার-বুশ বিয়ার কোম্পানি মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বিয়ার বাজারের অর্ধেক দখল করে রেখেছে; এই কোম্পানির বাডওয়াইজার বিয়ার মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রচলিত বিয়ার। জার্মানদের বিভিন্ন খাবার, যেমন ব্রাটভুর্স্ট, ভিনার শ্নিৎসেল, পটেটো সালাদ, আপেল শ্টুর্ডেল মার্কিনী সংস্কৃতির অঙ্গে পরিণত হয়। জার্মান মার্কিনীরাই মার্কিন শিক্ষাব্যবস্থা গড়ে তোলে। তারা জার্মান শিক্ষাব্যবস্থার বিভিন্ন উদ্ভাবন যেমন কিন্ডারগার্টেন এবং সরকারী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্থাপনে সহায়তা করে। জার্মান মার্কিনীরাই মার্কিন স্কুলের কারিকুলামে শরীরচর্চা এবং বিদেশী ভাষা শিক্ষার প্রচলন করে।
মার্কিন ইংরেজি ভাষাতে জার্মান ভাষার প্রচুর প্রভাব দেখতে পাওয়া যায়; হ্যামবার্গার (এক ধরনের বার্গার, হ্যামবুর্গ শহরের নামে), ফ্রাংকফুর্টার (এক ধরনের হটডগ, জার্মানির ফ্রাংকফুর্ট শহরের নামে), উইনার (হটডগ, অস্ট্রিয়ার ভিয়েনার নামে), প্রেটসেল (কুড়মুড়ে স্ন্যাক্স), সাওয়ারক্রাউট (বাঁধাকপি ভাজি, জার্মানদের অন্যতম প্রধান খাবার), ওয়াল্টস (এক ধরনের নাচ), কাপুট (নষ্ট), ভুন্ডারবার (অসাধারণ), গেসুন্ডহাইট (হাঁচির পরে উচ্চারিত), ইত্যাদি শব্দ মার্কিনীরা অহরহ ব্যবহার করে। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে (কিন্তু অন্য দেশে নয়) কিছু দৈনন্দিন ইংরেজি বাক্য যেমন "What gives?" (তুলনীয় জার্মান Was gibt's? অর্থাৎ কেমন চলছে?), "Are you coming with?" (তুলনীয় জার্মান Kommst du mit?) মার্কিনী ইংরেজির গঠনের উপর জার্মান ভাষার প্রভাব নির্দেশ করে।
মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রপতি ডোয়াইট আইজেনহাওয়ার, হার্বার্ট হুভার, রিচার্ড মালহাউজ নিক্সন, জর্জ বুশ, জর্জ ডাব্লিউ বুশ এবং থেওডোর রুজাভেল্ট জার্মান বংশোদ্ভূত ছিলেন।
মার্কিন ক্রীড়া ও বিনোদন জগতের সবচেয়ে বড় তারকাদের অনেকে জার্মান মার্কিনী ছিলেন। এদের মধ্যে আছেন বেসবল কিংবদন্তি বেব রুথ ও লু গেরিগ, কিংবদন্তি গলফ খেলোয়াড় জ্যাক নিকলাউস, প্রবাদপ্রতিম চলচ্চিত্র অভিনেতা ক্লার্ক গেবল, এবং ৫০ ও ৬০-এর দশকের বিনোদন আইকন ডরিস ডে।
