درس فى بودابست. جه لمصر كمدرس لأولاد مالك فندق النيل. فى سنة 1882 اشتغل فى مصر فى وزارة الأوقاف تحت يوليوس فرانز باشا رئيس مصلحه الأوقاف والمهندس المعمارى فى عهد الخديوى محمد توفيق اخد لقب باشا فى 26 فبراير 1885.
وبصفته مهندس رئيسى للجنة الحفاظ على آثار الفن العربى ، مسك اداره صيانة آثار العمارة الإسلامية والقبطية فى كل اماكن مصر ، الاول وقبل كل شيء فى القاهرة من سنة 1890 لحد نهاية سنة 1914.
ماكس هيرز من مواليد يوم 19 مايو1856 فى جرانيتشيرى, مات فى 5 مايو1919.

Max Herz Pasha's Major Restoration Projects
The courtyard of al-Salih Talai's mosque with the minaret surmounting the entrance to the left. The minaret was removed in 1923. In the background the truncated twin minarets of al-Muayyad Shaykh's mosque surmounting Bab Zuwayla can be seen before restoration.
The Fatimid gate of Bab Zuwayla with the twin minarets of the adjoining mosque of Sultan al-Muayyad Shaykh. Herz restored both the gate and the splendid minarets.
