በጥንት የኬልቶች ብሐር ሊንጎናውያን ዋና ከተማቸውን አንደማንቱኑም በዚህ ሥፍራ ነበራቸው። ዩሊዩስ ቄሣር ወደ ሮሜ መንግሥት ጨመረውና በተከታዩ አውግሥጦስ ዘመን ስሙ «ሊንጎኔስ» ሆነ።
