From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello, Jwrosenzweig. Welcome to Wikipedia.
A few tips for you to start going. (I'll send more if I see that I can help you :-)
- Just edit stuff off the cuff for a while. We like that!
- When you have time, check out Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers + the links in there.
- You can sign your stuff on talk pages with ~~~~ It will convert to your username + the time. "anon" is fine too.
- If puzzled, put a question on Wikipedia:Village pump, or feel free to ask me on my talk page if it's a very general question.
- Most of all, have fun but take our work seriously!

P.S. First; you probably cannot get your timed out IP-address attributed edits joined with your real account except by groveling undignifiedly with the "Developers", and I am not sure even they can help you. Secondly on the general subject of your login timing out mid-edit, believe me brother, I know quite a few verses to that song.
On the Honus Wagner card, I hope my new addition meets with approval.
Furthermore. On the login timeouts. Do you know what "cookies" are? I didn't when I started here. Anyhow it seems it is good to have them "enabled" if you want to not "logout" mid-edit. There was some other technical stuff that could affect things as well (like what the make of your "browser" is), but I wouldn't be the best person to ask about that. That would be Wikipedia:Village pump territory, most definitely. Try and bear with all the glitches and mostly you will either fix them or learn to live with them :-) -- Cimon Avaro on a pogo-stick 20:32 11 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Welcome. If you need help, stop by Wikipedia:Village Pump or just ask. Vicki Rosenzweig (probably not a relative)
- Thanks Vicki -- I'm very new here and still sorting out how this all works. And relative or not, there aren't enough Rosenzweigs in the world for us not to stick together, eh? -- Jwrosenzweig
- Washington State, actually, but I was a graduate student in Canada for two years. The vocabulary rubs off on you. Jwrosenzweig 21:28 25 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Your vote on the Daniel C. Boyer business doesn't quite fit into the convenient categories we just tried to slot everyone into. Can you please head over there and clear up exactly what you meant? -- Tim Starling 09:57, Aug 2, 2003 (UTC)
- Tim, my original post (before someone split it up) was clear, I thought, but you're wise to make doubly sure that everyone's votes are accurately counted. :) If Daniel is unwilling to return to a very small article (along the lines of the original one) I would support its deletion, and have modified my post at Talk:Daniel C. Boyer to make sure this is easy to understand. Thanks -- Jwrosenzweig 16:15, 4 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Hi, you cast a vote in the TEMP5 debate. The Temp5 proposal was voted down by 61.3% to 38.6%. We seem to be going around in circles on the whole issue of the main page. A new vote is now taking place to clarify what exactly we want, namely
- Do we actually want to have a new page?
- If so when (immediately, after a pause, timed to the press release, etc)?
- What do people want on the front page and what do they want excluded?
As of now, the whole issue seems surrounded by complete confusion. This way, finally and definitively, we will know what we want and when we want it. So do please express your opinions. The vote is on the same page as the previous votes. FearÉIREANN 20:31, 13 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Yeah, the complete confusion was really annoying the hell out of me. It was a classic example of wiki at its worst, going around in circles without deciding anything. The last vote resulted in
- 19 votes against the Temp5 but for some change,
- 17 votes for Temp5
- 8 votes for the current page.
I am now getting told off for having dared to try to sort out the mess by calling a clear and unambiguous vote, not the fluffy ambiguity that nobody can make head or tail of that some on wiki seem to love. Oh well. Thanks for the message and feel free to comment. lol FearÉIREANN 21:35, 13 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Actually, I screwed up slightly; I intended to create the listing under his full name, and had created the redirect from the short name at that point, but then discovered that he was usually called by the short name, so I had to move things around. Noel 20:44, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)
re: your question at the Village Pump. I'm not sure if you're thinking of the same user that I am. I asked Tonius recently to stop saving so many times. See . His reply can be seen here. Hope that helps. Angela 23:21, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Well that doesn't seem quite as excessive as the 50 in a day that Tonius was doing and some of them are spread out over different times of the day. However, it wouldn't do any harm to mention it on his talk page - in a "here's a useful tip for you" way rather than a criticising way. I replied here as I don't generally like discussing individual users at the Village Pump, but I'll reword this and add it there too for the record. Angela
