Green Bay, Wisconsin OK now I'm curious. What's the city named after? -- Decumanus 21:48, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I was very skeptical, but it's actually in the article on the city. Check this Google search" . Despite that, I think that article on the bay itself could just live at Green Bay. A good example is that of Dukes County, Massachusetts. The official name is County of Dukes County because of a mistake in the 1692 document establishing it, That's what appears on official documents, etc., but almost no one knows that, and it can be mentioned in the article, as opposed to the name, -- BCorr ¤ Брайен 21:56, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I'm not historian, but my best guess is some settlers were sitting around, and one of them said "Look at that green bay. Let's name the city 'Green Bay'." Similar humor to an old De Pere joke about two indians canoeing on the river; you can probably figure it out yourself. --Fo0bar 08:31, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
