Filming for episodes one and two finished in 2006, but the post-production process has yet to be complete. The creator, Harvey Chin said that he hoped to have the film previewed at a film festival or convention before "giving it away free via the net".
Vangelis is important to Buffyverse fans as one of only two Angel fan films (the other is Cherub). A trailer to "Vangelis" was posted on YouTube in May 2006, within three months the trailer had already received almost 5, 000 views. The project has also received attention from the Buffyverse fanbase elsewhere on the internet: for example being mentioned on Week in Whedon podcast, and on Whedonesque.
