Summary
DescriptionPanneaux en bois Fatimides Louvre 01.jpg |
English: Carved wooden panels attributed to the Fatimid Palaces in Cairo (11th century), at the Louvre Museum.
According to museum text explanation (item OA 4062, text in French only): the piece was found during excavations in one of the Mamluk monumental complexes built on the site of the former Fatimid palaces. In the same area, other wooden pieces with images of animals and humans on vegetal backgrounds were found. This piece probably belonged to a door.
