Deutsch: Der rote Zickzackbalken auf goldenem Grund im Schildhaupt weist auf die mittelalterliche Zugehörigkeit des Ortes zur Herrschaft Manderscheid-Blankenheim hin. Die Manderscheider führten den roten Zickzackbalken auf gold in ihrem Wappen.
Die silberne Wellenleiste, die das Wappen spaltet, steht für den Kerschenbach, der dem Ort den Namen gegeben hat. Die Patronin der Kapelle und des Ortes ist die Heilige Luzia, die durch den Dolch bzw. das Schwert als Märtyrerin für ihren Glauben starb. Das goldene Schwert weist aber auch auf das mittelalterliche Hochgericht hin; heute noch erinnert die Flurbezeichnung "Am Gericht" an die frühere Gerichtsstätte. Die goldene Ähre im hinteren Wappenteil symbolisiert den ländlichen Charakter der Gemeinde und dokumentiert, dass die Landwirtschaft über viele Jahrhunderte die Erwerbsgrundlage für die Menschen von Kerschenbach war. |
