English: Cast of slab F47L53, the first fossil fish slab excavated from Canowindra. TMP 1987.009.0001. 370 million years old, late Devonian, Mandagery Sandstone, Canowindra, New South Wales (Australia). At the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology.
This slab preserves 114 fish individuals, which died when their freshwater pond dried up. Most of the individuals in this slab are the placoderms Remigolepis walkeri and Bothriolepis yeungae. One sarcopterygian individual is present, Canowindra grossi, the largest fish in the slab. Two small and inconspicuous juvenile Groenlandaspis are also preserved.
