Hello Wblakesx and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Follow the Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!
Hi, sorry to hear you were having trouble. As for where discussion should go, it depends. If you want to leave a message for a specific user, then you can go to their talk page, as you did to me, and they will be alerted with a little note telling them "You have new messages". If it's about a specific article, then go to that article's talk page (e.g., for 2004 Democratic National Convention, discuss on Talk:2004 Democratic National Convention). That's more for comments and ideas about specific articles. Hope this helps, and if you'd like more info, just let me know. Best, [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 13:13, 2004 Aug 4 (UTC)
For general policy proposals and discussion of design, etc., the best place to try would probably be Wikipedia:Village pump. Best wishes, [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 13:01, 2004 Aug 11 (UTC)
