Summary
DescriptionMap created by the British East India Company of the Malwa region of Punjab showing the various polities, borders, and settlements of the area, ca.1829–1835.jpg |
English: Map created by the British East India Company of the Malwa region of Punjab showing the various polities, borders, and settlements of the area, ca.1829–1835. Folio no.4, sheet no.5.
A total of sixty-six (66) polities are listed in the legend, however the British admit this is not an exhaustive list/survey of all the polities in the region, as quoted: "There are many more petty cheifships too intermixed and too insignificant to be exhibited in this map", meaning there were many more regional polities existing at the time beyond the 66 depicted in this map. The map extends beyond Malwa into Haryana. The map has been dated to having been created between the years 1829–1835 based upon the following observations/research by Manreet (@manreet.d on Instagram):
Places of today's Malwa that once were under Lahore (Sikh Empire): 1. Rupnagar 2. Moga 3. Jagraon 4. Dharamkot 5. Kotkupura 6. Muktsar 7. Sahnewal Link to the social media post which provides information on this map: [1] |

This image is in the public domain because it is a mere mechanical scan or photocopy of a public domain original, or – from the available evidence – is so similar to such a scan or photocopy that no copyright protection can be expected to arise. The original itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag. |
