Purpose of use |
In Chloë Sevigny: to provide visual representation of an artist in a major commercial work of theirs, such as an award-winning role in a well-known television series. Also helps highlight major point in performer's career (i.e., Sevigny received a Golden Globe award for her performance in this role, 2010). Presents illustration for critical commentary on performer in a specific role, as well as the character themselves. Additionally, a quality free-use image for the article has been non-existent, and impossible to obtain through Creative Commons License 3.0 to coincide with Wikipedia criteria; this, in effect places hindrance on the article's otherwise-good status. Ultimately, the image does not infringe on the owner's work or the subject's - promotes both, if anything. |
Replaceable? |
No alternative could possibly exist; free-use image of subject complying with Creative Commons License 3.0 is not obtainable, and permission from a third party for copyright usage is extremely difficult to acquire. Additionally, article in question is well-written enough and in process of gaining Good Article status, but lacks an adequate photo of the article's subject. |

However, if they have, this permission likely does not fall under a free license. Please note that our policy usually considers fair use images of living people that merely show what they look like to be replaceable by free-licensed images and unsuitable for the project. If this is not the case for this image, a rationale must be provided proving that the image provides information beyond simple identification or showing that this image is difficult to replace by a free-licensed equivalent.
